(This actually happened yesterday, but I was too tired to write it up last night).

So for whatever dumb reason, I drove the car to work yesterday. I think I thought it was going to rain or something. I'm driving home in the car, doing 70-75, look back and there's a cruiser gaining on me. Nothing remarkable, lotsa bikes out yesterday. As it gets closer, it starts sounding kinda....... lawnmower-ish??! I look over as it passes, and it's a Savage / S40! I'm doing 75 and it's passing..... I didn't even know those things could go that fast!! Rider was thrashing the poor thing WFO for every once of HP it could muster. Fortunately, he took the next exit, so I didn't have to watch the damn thing throw a rod or something. :crash:

Dude: it's a thumper ferpetesake! Have some mercy on it!!

Lol those things aren't slow... Knew a guy at school who regularly hit 90 on his commute to school on his S40.

Hey, why not...I had a Rebel I could get up to 80. It's just a matter of winding it up before shifting...those little bikes will go zoooom if you give them a chance...

I had my old Honda CB400T up to 140 km/h (~80 mph)

Very funny! It is amazing how fast that 650cc single can go. Many people don't give it the credit it deserves, it's still a 650cc engine on it, even if it's all 1 cylinder. :D

I love to hear the stories of these small "sleeper" motorcycles passing either big curve cutting bikes or fast cars. Goes to show rider skill is more than just the bike.

Mike

Hell, my Burgman 650 scooter will go 115 mph, 90 all day long on the interstate, and without having to shift I can take damn near anyone off the line, car or bike and especially cruisers of any make. That Savage is the same way in that the engine is strong and has tons of torque. And they are damn near bulletproof. You, sir, are seriously underestimating the opposition.
