after the tragic theft of my bike i felt like a big part of me was missing.

it's all in the past now and my birthday came early. so now, i have another bike and i hope she never leaves my side ever.

i call her... AYA mkII. in memory of her lost big sister.

i got her insured today and i took her back from the mechanic. no rear fender, no passenger pegs, no warning labels, no reflectors, red rear turn signals (i heard it's illegal to change the front signals), and reverse shift pattern.

all it's missing now is a TRE. the windscreen is ok for me for now. it's similar to a double bubble already.

she's not as powerful as her big sister but she's still very powerful.

somebody called me earlier asking to do a ride. i'll call him again later and see if he still wants to ride.

and of course... pics!

A 300 mile ride sounds like a great way to break in new tires to me.

A little bit of scuffing with sandpaper might hurry up that job....

PS: That's a sweet looking ride, way better looking than the 1000 IMHO. If I was into the sport style of bike I would definitely consider that as an option.

yeah, the 750 wins in the looks dept.

- the tank is too big on the 1K
- the exhaust on the 750 looks better
- the solo cowl on the 750 looks better
- the nose on the 750 looks better
- the tail looks better on the 750

the 750 is just a sexier bike.

Definately liking the new bike, V. Looks great!

What the heck is wrong with the muffler on the 1000? It looks like it belongs on an 18-wheeler! Ew!

I seriously doubt you'll miss the power of the 1000...probably wont even be able to tell the difference (except for whats in your head!)

Did you buy brand new?

Why did you get rid of the reflectors? You want to make it harder for cars to see you?? And what is the purpose of reversing the shift pattern, is it to match your previous bike? I didnt even know something like that could be done without a new transmission or something!

Careful with those new tires and enjoy the bike.

i do feel the power difference but like said, the 750 is still helluva fast.

and yes, it's brand new and im broke but im happy!

the reflectors are just ugly.

the shift pattern is just for preference. i got used to it already when i did it on my previous bike.

they say it helps in upshifting faster and helps in left hand turns but im not good yet for the left hand turn advantage to be real factor.

but to me, it just makes more sense to push down to go faster(meaning shifting up).

the shifiting pattern reversal is easy to do on gixxers, you don't need to buy anything just adjust. i dunno about other bikes.

took her again for another run.

i stopped on this non-busy long road.

then i decided to see how fast this bike can take me to 60mph.

WOW! it sure didn't take long. i estimate somewhere around 3 secs. once i get the TRE, i'll reach 60 even faster.

i love it! i don't feel like i lost too much power at all.

i haven't had the chance to compare cornering since i'll wait until i get at least 100 miles on the tires before i try to push her more on corners.
