Hey Verm - congrats and stay safe this time round. Don't forget all that advice (and yelling) you got when you had the 1000

Hope everything's finally coming together for you & starting to work in your favor!
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

 Ya know, if the whole "getting a large bike, losing it, getting something slightly smaller" thing keeps going...You're eventually going to be on a 500, which everyone suggested in teh first place

Grats on the bike. It definitely is one sexy machine!

6/7/06

went to go joyriding again.

i pushed 1st gear at one point... it can go up to 80mph, not as much as the 1000 but still pretty close.

i already got 140 miles, i think my tires are finally broken in. :D

Sweet bike man! I'll probably trade my ol' F4i in for one of those next year. Maybe they will come out with one that has a little bit more yellow in it 8)

Again thats a great looking bike V.

80mph in first gear? Isnt that bad for the bike? Sheesh 80mph is as fast as I've even gone on my bike and that was only for a second! (hey, I was curious and the road was completely empty)

Me thinks that for all practical purposes your bike (and especially your 1k, RIP) has no need for a transmission.

i was watching my tachometer. i eased out on the throttle when i was near the red line. but of course, the speedo is optimistic so i may be actually only going around mid-70s.

also, i have only done it once. i usually shift to 2nd gear once i hit around 40mph.

i did a squid move on it the other day... i did 120mph on it on an alomst empty freeway... the bike still feels very stable. only did it for a short time though bec i didn't wanna push my luck too far.

I was wondering if I was the only one. When Ilearned to drive a manual car, I was told 1st gear is only to get you rolling, once your in motion switch to second. It's stuck with me on the bike as well.
