Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Hyosung GV650 Aquila as my first bike. I have experience riding scooters (don't shoot me) and have taken a three hour lesson on a motorbike. By the end of the lesson, I was riding in city (Sydney) peak hour traffic and freeway riding, and doing so comfortably. I stalled a couple of times in the first half hour of riding, but after that i didnt have a problem

My question is: what do I need to know to handle this 650cc bike. Is it going to be tough for me to get used to? Ive already bought it, so productive tips would be helpful.

It's all about attitude. I am one of the guys that says a sensible approach to riding 600 + cc bikes is OK as long as you are prepared to invest in training and the right gear = ATGATT

A GV650 isn't the same as a 600cc supersport by any means. Quite honestly it would be listed in the "gray area" by most of the members on this site.

Honestly if you're already riding it comfortably through city traffic, that's half of the battle right there. Well done!

Oh and you have to stick around so I have someone's couch to crash on when I do eventually get a visit to Oz... lol

Yeah, but I have ridden the GV, and WOW it is a feisty little bugger, with power and handling that does not match it's looks. It is by no means sedate and has a great torque pull form low down.

Respect the machine
