Yup night in the ER for me. I can't sleep so I already blogged it. I'm sure there are a lot of wreck stories on TMW
It was a pretty uneventful wreck, reading may not be too interesting :)
Anyway, I'm done with bikes for a while, but I'll be back!! :)

Sorry about the wreck and glad to hear you're still with us, but your statement "riding at night was us being a tad immature" doesn't hack it.

Some of my best rides were at night and some rides at night are unavoidable.

"I am heading into a turn at 35-40mph" was your main problem and apparently you didn't know the road you were riding on. That was "immature".

Hope you've learned from this experience.

I guess I've just been lucky as I've never went into shock even after breaking my arm and wreaking 2 times on a Buell Blast and also crashing my bicycle at 25MPH downhill, come to think of it I am pretty damned lucky that I never got anything worse then roadrash and bruises out of most of my accedents.

Anyways, I avoid riding at night and when I do I generally ride like a granny...I just am overly cautious now and I haven't wreaked since September 5th 2005, so thats pretty good.

I ride 70% at night. I work at night and I ride to work.

After all this and you didn't learn anything? You would think the first wreck would have done the job. :(

Believe me, I learned from this event. I don't blame anyone or anything for the wreck except me. The only things involved in the wreck were a road, a guard rail, darkness of night, a bike, and me. Of those things, only one of them is capable of making decisions...

When I get my bike back I will be a much better rider for sure. I don't plan to have this expensive lesson and not learn from it.

Excellent attitude. Even though I have many years and tens of thousands of miles of MCs, I still try to look at all of the accidnts I see written about on the Internet becuase I may learn something, or relearn something that I'd forgotten.

An applicable quote: "Experience teaches us things we wish we didn't have to learn."

Anyhow, glad to hear you'll be back on the road in the somewhat near future.

99% of it is just roadrash: right wrist, right knee, right shoulder, chin, and various other bits like my hip.

my right shoulder joint tore and last night did not hurt but now it does, just a mild throb.

the real injury is my left hand. i have a very deep cut on it, it looks like someone stabbed me, before the stitches it was like a tunnel going into my hand. my left hand is extremely swollen and is in intense pain now. I can juuust barely wiggle my fingers and i can start to make a fist if I'm willing to accept a lot of pain.

a tendon is damaged and yeah, i can tell you exactly which one :) the tendon near my thumb is extremely painful. they don't think any bones broke but i won't know for sure untill my follow up on Tuesday.

so basically a stabbed hand. in the grand scheme of things, i'll gladly take it.

Stories like these make me not want to ride anymore.

You do realize this thread is four years old.

Just saying.
