Oh I love the Hornet 250! Great looking bikes and a relatively friendly ride.

The 250 should be a pretty smooth bike to start on. It is an I4 so the power curve is relatively smooth, revs high near 16k redline. The seat height isn't tall, but it isn't the most narrow either, so it on it for feel of course. It is a hint heavier IIRC than the VTR250 but manuevers really well.

I think of it as my VTR250s sister of sorts. If you're looking for a Vtwin with a little pep, VTR250 like mine is the way to go. Actually for what I'm doing with it and how it's treating me, you'd love it for sure.

Eh, pardon me, my bias is showing  ...the Hornet 250 - good bike :righton:

Hey thanks for that, whats the seat height on your VTR? because im 6ft 1 and a higher seat would be better, i sat on a hornet at a local shop, and it fitted fine, so yea is the VTR higher or lower?

Thanks

VTR is slightly taller, not by much. I think they range 760-780mm depending on the year model. The pegs are comfortable for me, but I'm not tall, 5'3" with a 29-30" inseam. So definietly try it out to see if you fold ok for the bike. If you sat on the Hornet already and it wasn't cramped the VTR should feel ok too.

Go to the blog section and look in my blog for vids. You can see the VTR in slowpoke beginner action  You can hear the little rumble too. Its not a bad soundin' stock 250.

It's not availible in North America, but by all accounts it's a great bike, and more then capable of getting you around. As an added bonus it looks pretty damn nice as well.

Indeed it is!

I wonder why its not available on the US :humm: it would sell more than the Nighthawk 250, I would think.

Because it is a nice standard naked 250 - "no standards in US" post ring a bell? Only in JPN, UK, AU(?) NZ(?)...etc

The Hornet 250 is the same as the 599 and 919.

I would kick the Pope in the face for one of those. The Nighthawk at my latest rider training was laughably sad.
