So one week later (tomorrow) and I'm loving the new bike. Still getting used to it and figuring out where it wants to hang out in the power band - so far it really doesn't seem to mind what I want to do, and happily responds to pretty much everything with ease. We're definitely getting along well.

It also seems that the bike is a light eater - so far I'm getting better than the 55 mpg! Of course I am staying within the manufacturer's recommendations for the break-in period, but I'm hoping to be past that within the next week or two. :D

So far I have to say what is surprising me most is the torque. The bike just moves so smoothly and easily and does not feel like it is going fast at all (when it actually is!) so I need to watch it. I can't wait until the break-in period is done though. :devil:

Congratulations! That is a great looking bike and the same paint color I'd grab myself! Infact been eyeing the F800R since it came out last year and I'm a little jealous you have one! haha. :D

If I may recommend, change the oil and the filter right away. You will be SHOCKED at how much metal will be in your oil right now: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21851

Also I recommend the moto-tune break-in method. That's heavy acceleration then heavy engine braking (within the RPM limits of manufacturer break-in period) for the first 700 miles or 1000 km's. This will set the piston rings really well within the cylinder walls and will return an extra 10% power as well due to less blow back/by on the rings.

Again, don't forget to change your oil and filter! I would suggest 100km/miles, then 500, then 1500.

Gorgeous bike, congrats! The F800R is maybe my favorite or 2nd favorite middleweight standard right now (the other is the Triumph Street Triple). If browsing turned to buying, I think I'd go with the Beemer; not as focused as the Trumpet, but I like the riding position more and I think it'll be more comfortable and versatile. Have you seen the stuff Chris Pfeiffer does on these things?

Hi Nalian, welcome back and congrats! What a gorgeous bike you've chosen!

I totally know what you mean about work keeping you away from computers. When we moved to England I was so overworked in the first couple of years I don't think I posted on TMW once... and it's my husband's site... (shame on me!)

Well glad you're back around, I look forward to seeing more of your posts. :D
