Help: Trying to take off a very rusted chain

#1 Unread post by jk333 »

well my chain is very stretched out and very rusty. I'll sound like a newbie when i say this but: i found the master link, how do i get it apart? maybe its the age of the chain. i think its original on my 81 Honda. Ive tried a standard screwdriver, needle nose pliers, and other tools but no luck. whats the deal? :|

try an angle grinder. you're not trying to save the chain anyway.....

There is a clip that holds the side plate on the master link. Spread the narrow end of the clip and lever it over the pin, slide the big end off the other pin. Pull the side plate off.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.
