Thoughts on these boots

#1 Unread post by IBJanky »

I was checkin' out some boots online and came across these:

Timberland Downshifter boots

I wonder how these boots are. Do you guys think it offers enough foot/ankle protection?

They're not that expensive either (less than $100).

If it covers the round ankle bones, that's good. The description on the site seems alright. I think before I'd buy them I'd look for other online reviews.

Personally, I don't want to ride with laces on my boots. Just a precaution I like to take a step further than "tuck the loops inside".

The real test is how they'll feel when you're riding. I imagine it'll take a ride or two to be come real comfortable and use to the feel.

+1 to what shorts says. Also, I don't think I dig the blue trim and the blue laces. At least not on guy's boots. Just my opinion...

They do have them with black trim on black. No women's sizes though (of course! :x ). They do look like decent boots though.

The boots look OK but before spending your hard earned money check out the THOR 50/50 boots. They are an ankle boot with good foot and ankle protection. They retail for $110.00 but I got a pair online for $85.00. The feel and fit were great from the first time I put them on. :D

Here's another style that's black on black trim:

I like the looks of this one a lot, but where can I find it? And is it available in women's sizes? On their own website it is not included with the other (4) styles of motorcycle boots. I'm so confused...

I saw some on eBay. Search for "Timberland Downshifter"

I'm not sure if they make them for women though :(

See how it feels around the ankles since that's a pretty important part to protect. Most of the Timberland moto boots are meant more for style than function (even the motoGP boot).

I personally prefer steel toe boots with oil resistant soles and at least 6" tall to cover my ankles. I wear both my Caterpillars and Timberland Pro's which are more for construction work so it may look a bit combatant.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.
