i e-mailed him and this is what he said:
found out today that the camshaft has some play probably because of a bearing. If you are ok with this please let me know, and I will still hear an offer
i've worked on carbs before but nothing big like this...
how big of a job is this?
what would a repair bill cost?
i know what a camshaft does but i don't know how big of a deal it is to have "some play" or what bearing he's talking about.
thanks in advance!
should i buy it?

The cam shaft is steel, rides in the aluminum head. When the cam shaft has play, it usually means a head replacement as the aluminum head beariung surfaces have worn away.
There may be other options, but I am not aware of them.
