Im new to motorcycling ive got my first bike and ive put 300 miles on it. I have a Kawasaki ninja 650 abs 2019 I purchased brand new so I didn't pay much attention to it at first but after taking a msf course I noticed how my bike just rides on its own lol what I mean is 1st gear without touching the clutch or throttle it just rides around at around 6mph even went up a slight incline at 5 mph this is with no hands on clutch or throttle is this ok? the bike at the msf course did not behave this way just wondering if something needs adjusted. I did search around couldnt find anything related.

That is weird. My wife had a 2009 Ninja 650 and defiantly didn't do that. My guess is your clutch isn't 100% disengaging and needs adjusting. It isn't difficult to do yourself, at your clutch lever there is a turn screw, screwing it in (shortening the cable) will disengage the clutch sooner. I would try it in a parking lot with nothing around on your own on the bike, turning the screw 1/4 a turn at time and seeing how your clutch behaves. :)

Torquey parallel twin...lot of bikes will drive around @ idle. Nothing wrong with that unless it keeps doing so while squeezing the clutch lever.

You can shift down through your range of gears without using the clutch much like upshifting. Because your clutch is not being used or not working, you’ll need to use the throttle to control your deceleration.
