Hi Rob

Welcome to the forums. I moved your question here to the trouble shooting forum. You're more likely to get help in here. :)

Rob when it does start does it run normally? Does it backfire @ idle or only when loading the motor? Was it sitting for any length of time. Without a little more it's tough to say. I'd start with the usual suspects, worn plugs not really fouled make sure the gap is correct, wires spray wd40 on the plug wires see if it gets better, run seafoam through the fuel. Usually it's something simple.

Hello Rob and welcome to the forum. I would start with a complete cleaning of the carburetor. Good luck.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I tottaly cleaned the carbs got it running and its back firing in the left hnd carb under throttle. I think the choke cable is the problem.

Backfire is usually either extremely lean mixture (air leak or plugged carb jets) or wrong timing.

Only time I've actually seen backfire thru the carb was because of crossed spark plug wires on a car that I was working on.....

Ah there you go! Sometimes the solution is the simplest, cheapest and easiest one*. :D

*I haven't learned this lesson myself yet, but I'm trying.
