Yep, tried it with the tank open. Checked the hoses and filters, it all runs clean. I've cleaned out the carb twice. The boot still needs replacing though, as its chopped up inside. I don't know how much a new carb will cost me (need to call HD).

Been way too busy lately at home to mess with the bike. I won't let it go for free, but I might exchange it for a good solid crib ;)

this is something very simple. did you say that you checked the fuel filter in the tank? when you open the petcock with an open fuel line, does the gas come draining out in a good steady stream? did you check the idle ports on your carb? did you remove them and clean all the small passages? sometimes you have to run a wire through them. i use old guitar string wire.

finally, get it running well then sell it asap. the blast is not known to be a reliable machine.

Yes, I cleaned out the petcock and filter and checked everything for good flow. Seems that everything is good up until the carb.

I plan on pulling apart the carb, soaking it, and now (from these suggestions) running some thin wire through the jets. I've got my fingers crossed!

If you use wire, it's possible to scratch the small passages in the carb. I use fishing line. The dental floss of carburetors.

More drama. I replaced the manifold/carb coupler, no difference. I cleaned the carb AGAIN, still nothing. So I sprayed carb cleaner directly into the intake, and it fired right up. All the lines going into the carb are clear. After it sits a while, it will run for a few seconds, then bog down and die. But if I give it any throttle whatsoever, it dies instantly. My thinking is that the carb is bad and as soon as I give it throttle, the sudden air and small amount of fuel kills the engine. I think I'm going to have to buy a new carb, but the dealer is asking $400 for it. A lot to put into a bike I want to just sell without knowing for sure if it will work!

Just thought I'd post an update. I ended up purchasing a new carb, and now it's running fine.

Yep, it's definitely being sold. Having second thoughts now that I can ride it! But alas I'm trading it in for a stroller.
