White stuff on chain - Problem?

I've got a lot of white junk on the inside of my chain. I've noticed that the spray lube I have (came with the bike, no idea how old it is) leaves a white residue when I spray it, so I think it's just that stuff. Is it supposed to be that color? Is it normal for it to dry on there and make the chain look like I rode through a white-out spill?

Yes that's normal.

Okay. I thought maybe the chain was supposed to stay shiny and black. Thanks :).

Do you mean white foam as your applying the oil spray or long after you have even riden the bike?

If you take the substance and rube it between your fingers. Does it feel like thick grease or grit or something else?

A spray propellant can give oil a temporary white appearance but that should go away quickly.

Well, the bike's been sitting for about a month not running. But it's always on there, even weeks after I've sprayed on the lube.

it's chain wax.

I used to use the same stuff on my chain, but while it lasted a long time, it also collected road gunk really well (I used PJ-1). I now lube my chain with a multipurpose spray on lube that works really well.
