Thank you Donna. I'm safe in my little country. But we were afraid about my young son. He was drinking with a friend in a "café" near the Bataclan when the attack started...
Doug, be sure we know the pain is the same all around the world, whatever is our color or nationality. But there, it was so close that the fear was added to the horror.
I often think of you , Donna, Doug, and of your friends (Connie and others) and read you on TMW. I regret having no more the opportunity to get on Vancouver Island ...

I sometimes think about coming downtown to meet you and your wife. Even with my limited French and her limited English....we still managed to have a nice evening.

:)

Mrs. Stark and I went to the Progressive international motorcycle show in New York City yesterday. Random thoughts and impressions:
  • - the motorcycling public IS graying. Most of the guys there look like me or older (I'm 59). Folks in their 50's, 60's and 70's out numbered 20- and 30- somethings 3 to 1.
    - the show is shrinking. Fewer vendors than in previous years
    - I was underwhelmed by the new BMW R1200RS and the S1000XR. Competent, but not exciting.
    - I was also underwhelmed by the new Triumph Street Twin. Felt cheap compared to the older Bonnevilles (I used to have a 2005 Bonne). I'm still making up my mind about the T120
    - Suzuki brought the 1250 Bandit back. Again.
    - Kawi still doesn't have a replacement for the KLX250S
    - Royal Enfields are tiny in real life. The Yamaha SR400 is even tinier
    - The Indian Roadmaster is gorgeous, but it weighs a ton. By comparison the Victory Vision, for all its bulk, feels much lighter.
    - The riding position of the big Harley touring bikes is uncomfortable for me. Period. If I ever get a bike of this type, it will probably be a Victory
    - The two bikes that clicked with me the most are several years old: Honda CB1100, and KTM 1190 Adventure (a superior motorcycle to the 1290 Adventure)

The sun came out today for awhile and the roads in our neighborhood dried out enough for me to take the 500R for a couple laps around the block. Very impressed with the power and maneuverability, and I fit on it a lot better than on Rubia's 250. My one concern, the side stand when folded rides right beneath the shift lever, close enough so that I have a hard time getting my toe under the lever without nudging the stand. Anyone else have this problem?

Hey Jack, I think there is a bolt and lock-nut, on the kickstand, to adjust where it sits while folded. If not try turning the shifter up one tooth on its spline.
Merry Christmas

I drove to Manning Park and back today so I could play in the snow. I'm sick of our constant rain.

Plenty of ravens hanging about today.

I snow shoed around part of Lightning lake...the snow was too deep for just boots.
