Stayed in bed all day to-day sneezing and feeling sorry for myself. Caught a hell of a cold after getting soaked to the skin on a ride down to the south coast last weekend.

Rode the new VFR down to Polson MT and hit a lot of rain. Mrs HighSide and my BIL are along for the ride. Will likely ride the Lolo pass tomorrow if the weather will give us a break. Really diggin the new ride :)

I had a key in my wallet once but when my wallet got stolen I had to replace the locks on the door. Don't forget you usually have your ID in your wallet which inludes your address so anyone can find your house easy enough and let themselves in if they find themselves in possession of your wallet!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the bike, even if the weather sucks! Say hi to the Mrs. and enjoy the rest of your trip.

As for Mike & I today... we are currently researching utility companies for our new house and are soon off to a friend's place to go water skiing in their back yard. :kicking:

Saturday June 9, 2012.
There was a kawasaki demo day scheduled in the area (240km away). Even though storms were forecast for that area decided to
go anyway. As luck would have it, the rain started just as we arrived at the dealer. This was a good luck bad luck situation! Not realizing that prior registration was required I had not done so. However the rain had damped the ardour of some registered riders and they had not shown up thereby leaving rides available. But it was raining hard and it was not sure that the rides would go ahead.

Since I was there I decided to replace my tires as the service personel were there in force for the demo day.

The rain almost stopped and the ride was on. My bike is a 2000 concours and I wanted to try something entirely different so I
choose a vulcan 900 classic to ride. And it was quite different. Quite low to the ground, heel and toe shifter, buckhorn bars, so
it was like learning to ride all over again. Throughout the ride I was constantly checking to see where my feet were in relation to the shifter and rear brake. And to add to the confusion, no soon had we left the shop then the skies opened up and the rain fell
.....hard! Did I mention buckhorn bars. They leave you in an excellent position to capture each and every drop of rain that falls in your vicninty. Of course I have a rain suit, which was comfortably resting in the side case of my concours as it was havings its tires changed. The seat which looked plush was in fact quite board like. The other niggle I had was with the guages which were on the gas tank. That required taking eyes off the road if you wanted to check speed etc.

However, here I was riding a totally different bike in heavy rain, amongst heavy traffic and construction and nothing untoward happened. Shifting was easy and precise, throttle and brakes were good, and handling was good. And at a stop, how nice to have both feet, if wanted, firmly planted on the ground.
All in all not a bad bike, certainly worth checking out if interested in that type of bike.

As to my tires. I had metzeler tires on and they lasted for 17000km. Don't know if that is good or bad. The replacement tires are Dunlop k701 and k700g. Interesting to see how long they last.

So that was my saturday, interesting and expensive.

I went up on the roof today to assess the damage from the worst hail storm I've ever seen (2.5" diameter solid clear ice) and happened upon a little gem embedded into my roof. I know my neighborhood isn't the best, but this confirms it...

Yes that is a .22 LR non-jacketed round nose round that was embedded into my roof.

Know how you feel, woke up Saturday morning with a raw throat and sinuses plugged alltohell. Still. Not feeling great, but instead of being home feeling sorry for myself, I worked up the strength to head into work. Thank goodness it's not hard work...

Well I finely found a Concours parts bike so I went and picked it up yesterday. And what a parts bike, a big bore lower end, another engine, Progressive springs up front, big after-market spring out back, brand-new Avon (still has the sticker on it) rear tire, and a perfect front fairing. It's even a 99 so it's purple. :D AND the Realtor called, the bank accepted my bid for the house across the street so now I'm a slum-lord. :kicking:
