I dunno...the japanese have been there for how long? With all that experience I dont think an American ghost would stand a chance against a japanese ghost.

Somehow, I just got the mental image of the ghost of Godzilla and the ghost of Mothra.... Sorry, I always think of those old movies when I think of Japan!

I don't know if we have ghosts or not, but it is fun to speculate! In addition to turning on the kitchen heat (which is hard becasue the dial is behind the fridge) which happened again last night - one time it took the remote. No lie! All of a sudden it was just gone. We looked everywhere - at one point, hubby thought it got into the wood stove. Or the dog took it outside. We looked underneath all the furniture, took the couches apart... Then, one day, it was like it literally fell out of the air to the floor.

I also think I hear voices at night. I can't quite make out what they are saying. And it is so quiet I can hear our clock tick (small battery powered clock - we loose power all the time for just enough time to unset the digital clocks). We are at least 1/4 mile from our nearest neighbor...

It was 22F this morning, with a wind chill of 17F. Got that fire cranking big time last night! We get to about 20-25 below F and that's about as low as it will go. I am hoping for a mild El Nino Winter...

Well that depends. See what you do is find the American item/food/celebrity that the JPN L-O-V-E LOVE and you can get them to do just about anything. I've been around here long enough to know how to be dangerous

And all I need to do is get them to another house, not necessarily banished from all haunting-the-earth duties.

I suppose, but considering how 'honorable' the Japanese are, it makes me wonder whether the Japanese ghost wouldn't just be too ashamed to leave his regular haunt. I mean, that would indicate a failure on his part, right?

The real problem is that a ritualistic suicide is totally out of the question. Because he's already dead. So how would he even be able to cope with his shame? I just don't think the japanese ghost would leave without a fight.

Hmm, you raise interesting thoughts, Yoda. I was watching tv two nights ago and a show named 'Supernatural' came on.. It's about two brothers who go around as modern-day ghostbusters, putting to rest urban legends come to life. As corny as it sounds, I admit, I'm starting to be a regular viewer (AFN doesn't off much choice). Anyhow, If bribery fails, I'm going to call those guys. They use lots of machismo and a sawed off rocksalt shootin' shotgun

I watch that show! I first thought they were ghost hunters - looking to find them everywhere. Now that I know they are out to disproove, I like it.
