The 2016 Thumpstars have been unveiled, with the 2016 models shown in an original Chartreuse colour, which is a change from Thumpstar’s previous colourways. There is a full range, from 50cc to 250cc, including some ATV models and a two-stroke 50cc.

Another step forward is the TSX and TSR range, designed for Junior Motocross racing, which have been approved by Motorcycling New Zealand to be raced at Club Level racing and will line up with the 85cc two strokes, but lap-scored separately. The class will need a minimum of five riders per race.

The TSR 150 benefits from further improvements to suspension, damping and handling with the latest designed rear linkage, while the TSX 140 enjoys a new 7 Series aluminium rims and a upgraded exhaust system. The TSK 50 its been completely redesigned and made as youngster friendly as possible, including smaller geometry, front and rear brake controls on the handlebars and removable training wheels.

About Thumpstar

Thumpstar was founded in 2004 by a racer named Timothy Hunter. While attending a Trade Fair in late 2003, he stumbled across a pit bike, felt the necessity to import it and make modifications and improvements. In April 2004 he signed a contract with a Taiwanese Company to help build these bikes. Thumpstar was born.

The first model Thumpstars released into the market were the JNR 90cc, Super Hunge 110cc & Pro Hunge 125cc. The Pro Hunge 125cc was a huge success with its CNC TUV certified full billet T6 heat treated alloy frame; this frame is highly sought after to date. These models debuted between the years 2004 – 2006.

Within the first 13 months of business the company had over 45 million dollars in sales. They rose to become one of the most well-known Pit Bike brands in the world. Thumpstar is commonly known as the original mini dirt bike for adults.

Thumpstar’s success was short lived due to some shortcomings in terms of infrastructure and Trademark infringement; other companies were selling counterfeit Thumpstars.

In 2007 Thumpstar changed its name to Terra Moto and ensured the Intellectual Property protection was in place. New Terra Moto models were released including the Terra Moto Krusha 125cc and Terra Moto TDX 125F PRO. Terra Moto did not take off like Thumpstar did and soon the manufacturer stopped producing the Terra Moto.

Hornet Industries contacted Hunter in 2011 to revive Thumpstar. On 10th May 2012 they signed an agreement to restart the company with three new models the TSX 88cc, TSX 125cc and TSR 160cc.

At the beginning of 2015 Thumpstar had over 16 models from 50cc to 250cc and 5 x model types including the TS-B(Basic) TS-X(Mid-Range) TS-R(Racing) TS-K(Kids) TS-C(Competition) designed for Kids, trail riding, Motocross and Pit Bike Racing. Thumpstar has sold over 40,000 motorcycles in 20 countries worldwide.

In April 2015 Thumpstar declared Chartreuse as an official colour and is one of several off-road motorcycle manufacturers to have an original color.
