Team #Suzuki Press Office – August 19.

World Endurance Championship leaders Suzuki Endurance Racing Team heads to this weekend’s third round, the Oschersleben 8-Hours in Germany, with a healthy 29-point lead in the series and with a 14th world title in its sights.

With 35 points available to the winner at this penultimate event of the series, racing is expected to be extremely close between SERT’s Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle, Etienne Masson and the other top EWC class teams that include Yamaha GMT94, Bolliger Switzerland, SRC Kawasaki and last year’s Oschersleben winners Honda Racing.

In theory SERT could clinch the title at Oschersleben before the final round, the Bol d’Or 24-Hours in France, on September 19-20th, but it is an outside chance that would depend on them winning the race - scoring maximum points - and its two main rivals not scoring; SERT increasing its series lead to more than 60 points (60 points being the maximum amount of points available for the final round).

The SERT GSX-R1000, for 2015 sporting the new #30 plate in celebration of Suzuki’s 30th Anniversary of the class-leading GSX-R range of Superbike machinery, is joined by Le Mans, France stablemates and reigning Superstock World Cup Champions Suzuki Junior Team LMS. Team riders Baptiste Guittet, Gregg Black and Roman Maitre currently lead the class – and after an impressive fourth overall finish on their GSX-R1000 against the EWC teams at the opening Le Mans race in France.
