Sudden End to #Hungary Weekend for Team @Yamaha @MGM

Team Yamaha MGM was represented by Damian Cudlin during the fifth round of the 2015 Superbike*IDM International German Championship, but his weekend at the Hungaroring ended early due to an unfortunate crash.
The weekend started positively for Team Yamaha MGM. As most of the Superbike*IDM field had never been at the Hungarian circuit before, the organisers had scheduled an extra 25 minute free practice session. Cudlin made most of the extra time and worked hard on his set-up. He made good progress and ran a fastest lap time of 1'49.881 during the last session to take fourth place in the overall standings at the end of the first day.
The Australian was able to go even faster on Saturday in the first qualifying session. He posted a 1'49.492 on his first flying lap for fourth position and was on route for another fast time, but wasn't able to complete his second lap. The front of his bike slipped away in the fourth corner and the 32 year old got caught on one of the big curbstones, twisting his left shoulder.
After a brief visit to the medical center, Cudlin went to Budapest to have a check up in the hospital. The medical staff found he had injured his rotator cuff, a group of muscles that provide stability and allows the shoulder to rotate, and he was deemed unfit to race.
The Australian will head back to Germany tomorrow where he will receive another medical check up from a German specialist in the upcoming week.

Damian Cudlin

"Obviously it's really disappointing, because we made a step overnight and the bike felt really good Saturday morning, but I crashed in the second lap of the first qualifying. Actually it wasn't a big crazy crash, but my arm got caught on one of the curbs, which are bigger than normal for the cars that race here, and this did some damage to my shoulder. I was in the hospital and they said I need surgery, so I will go to a specialist in Germany and check from there what I can do. All I can hope is that I can repair this rapidly, so I can return as soon as possible, because the team needs it. We are in a really unlucky situation, but this is a part of racing sometimes. Like always we will try to find the best and quickest solution, so I can come back as early as possible."

Michael Galinski - Team Yamaha MGM Team Manager
"For our team it is of course a big shame that we need to do some race weekends without Damian and Max. Unhurriedly we'll now look together with Yamaha to find equal substitutes to bridge both of the next two race weekends. I hope both riders will be back for the finale in Hockenheim. I wish both of them a best possible and quick recovery. We still want to finish on top with the bike, so it is in our best interest - and also in the interest of our permanent riders - to develop the bike further, to provide both our riders with the best result possible in Hockenheim."
