DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2014) - The LA County Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., will play host to the athletes of AMA Pro Flat Track this Saturday, Oct. 11, for the Flat Track Finals. Riders in the world's most prominent feeder class to compete on dirt surfaces, AMA Pro Flat Track Pro Singles, will throw a leg over their 450cc motorcycles and compete against one another for the 15th and final time on the professional stage this year.

The battle for the top spot is up for grabs and all eyes will be on the 77J bike of Kyle Johnson, who holds a slim lead over Davis Fisher. Johnson enters the weekend with very little margin for error atop the standings as he leads Fisher by a mere six points. Johnson, who will ride his Parkinson Brothers Racing Honda this weekend, has accumulated four wins in 2014, which is the most wins by any rider in the class. However, Johnson's track record has proven that he can be boom or bust, as he's finished 14th or worse in four races this season.

All Johnson needs to do is finish second or better at Pomona to claim the championship. If Johnson finishes third and Fisher were to win, then Fisher would earn the title aboard his 67M T.J. Burnett Farms Honda.

Last season, Johnson finished third at Pomona in just his first season at the professional level and went on to finish fifth in points.

Ryan Wells has put together yet another impressive campaign but it appears that he will come up short for the second time in as many seasons. A championship hopeful at the start of 2014, Wells came up one point shy just a year ago when he lost out to Wyatt Maguire 137-136 in last season's title chase. Wells is scheduled to compete aboard his No. 94B KTM/GE Capital KTM at Pomona and he currently sits third in the standings with 156 points to his credit.

After finishing eighth in the standings in his first season a year ago, Bronson Bauman showed tremendous improvement in 2014 as he's positioned himself to land in the top five when all is said and done. Bauman is sitting comfortably in fourth and will try and improve on his position when he competes aboard his No. 30Z Rod Lake Racing Honda at Pomona this Saturday.

Jarod Vanderkooi rounds out the top five in points heading into the season finale and the Ohio product has made massive strides in just his first season in the professional ranks. Vanderkooi will ride his No. 17F Johnny's Vintage Motorcycle Honda this weekend.

Riders like Dan Bromley, aboard his No. 54A Bromley Brothers KTM, Kolby Carlile, piloting his No. 36B K.C Cycle Helmet World KTM, and Rodney Spencer, mounted on his 74Z GP Sports Honda, are all riders capable of playing the spoiler card this weekend as they will be looking to shake up the final point standings by giving some of the top riders a run for their money.
