#TRIUMPH AIMS FOR ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL #AMA PRO ROAD #RACING ROUND AT ROAD #AMERICA THIS WEEKEND

ATLANTA (May 30, 2014) – Danny Eslick, the reigning Daytona 200 winner at AMA Pro Road Racing’s last round, and Bobby Fong, fresh off his second place finish in the Dynojet Sportbike Championship of the GEICO Motorcycle Sportbike Shootout, are set to compete for another victory on their Daytona 675Rs in Elkhart Lake, Wis. this weekend.

“Road America’s a long, fast track where you have to have great handling, great aerodynamics, and incredible power,” said Danny Eslick. “The Riders Discount Racing team has been working really hard since Daytona to find some more horsepower and better handling. Hopefully it’s going to pay off this weekend with a good result.”

Eslick, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and the #69 Riders Discount Racing Team lead the AMA Pro Road Racing Daytona Sportbike class heading into the series’ second round at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., May 31-June 1.

Eslick started the season becoming the first Triumph rider to win the Daytona 200 since Gary Nixon in 1967. Also, his #69 Riders Discount Racing Team became Triumph’s first to ever win at the famed event from the pole position. It was the first pole position at Daytona for Triumph since Paul Smart accomplished the feat in 1971.

Four of the Daytona 200’s top ten finishers also rode a Triumph Daytona 675R. Bobby Fong on the #50 Latus Motors Racing/Castrol/Triumph finished fourth. England’s Luke Stapleford and his team flew in to compete on the #68 Profile Racing Triumph Daytona and finished seventh, and former Daytona 200 winner Steve Rapp finished 10th with his #15 D&D Cycles/Castrol/Triumph.

The fastest race lap of the Daytona 200 was turned in by Jason DiSalvo piloting his #40 Sportbike Track Time/Castrol/Triumph; however, his day was ended trying to avoid the debris from another rider’s incident in front of him.

“After what happened at Daytona, I'm even more motivated to get out there and put up some good results this weekend. The Apex/Sportbike Track Time crew has been working double time in between testing sessions these past few months to speed the development of our 675Rs,” said DiSalvo. “I have a good feeling that all of our hard work will pay off here at Road America."

Bobby Fong, of Stockton, Calif., and the Latus Motors Racing/Castrol/Triumph Team won the opening round of the three-race GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout’s DynoJet Pro Sportbike class from the pole at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Fong finished second at the Shootout’s next round at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., and capped it off with a third place finish at the Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah.

“We’ve got lot of momentum coming in to this race and learned a lot over the last two weekends bonding with the team,” said Fong. “I do well at this track, and we are more motivated than ever because we had a difficult weekend at Miller, but the Triumph does better at Road America than it does at Miller, so we are excited and ready to get to it!”
