Red Bull Husqvarna’s British factory rider Danny Kent delivered a tenth place finish in Rd. 4 of the Moto3 World Championship in Jerez on Sunday, finishing one place behind Husqvarna supported rider Niklas Ajo of Finland. Kent is also currently in tenth place in the championship table.

Team Manager Aki Ajo said it was a good effort by his two riders. “The boys were fighting in the same group and they were really close to each other,” Ajo commented after the race. “Niklas was a bit better in the time practice but again they raced together in the same group. Finally we can be happy to be in the top ten. It’s the first season for the Husqvarna team and our target was to have top ten results. I think we have to be proud of our riders. They really have a chance to be in the top group in many races this season.”

Kent and Ajo swapped places during the race numerous times between places 11 and 9 on a race that was hard on tyres because of the high temperature of the Spanish track surface.

Danny Kent: “We worked hard all weekend to get the right setup and this morning we made some final changes that worked well. There were four or five laps in the middle of the race where our pace wasn't fast enough and the lead group got away, although in the end we did have a good pace.”

Kent, who returns in 2014 to Moto3 after a season in Moto2 in 2013, said he would continue to work on his fitness during the one-week break in the competition. “We need to be back to our best at the next race and get the best results possible," Kent said.

Kent competes on the Husqvarna FR 250 GP machine.
The next round of the Moto3 World Championship is the GP of France at the Le Mans circuit in two week’s time.
