FIVE QUESTIONS TO AKI AJO, #HUSQVARNA FACTORY TEAM MANAGER

Ahead of Rd. 2 of the #Moto3 World Championship Husqvarna News put five questions to Aki Ajo, one of the most experienced and respected team managers in the paddock, who is guiding the Husqvarna Factory Team through its debut year in Moto3.

Husqvarna Racing News: What has the Husqvarna team been doing in between the first two GPs?

Aki Ajo: “The factory (in Austria) has been working very hard for us on the development of the FR 250GP bike and last week Danny Kent did two days of testing in Almeria.”

HRN: What would you say are the optimal technical requirements for Austin and does this requite any special settings? How about riding skills – does the Austin Circuit demand anything special from the riders?

AA: “Austin is different track if you, for example, compare it to Qatar. There are hard braking points but also fast corners. It is a really beautiful track!”

HRN: Do you think the FR 250GP is already at the top level of tuning and performance or do you believe there will be a further evolution during the season?

AA: “The bike is already at a good level but of course during the season we also continue with the development. Austin is a different track and now it will be interesting see how the performance is between the different manufacturers.”

HRN. What expectations do you have for the Husqvarna riders at the next race in Austin?

AA: “The season is long so now it is just important to stay calm.”

HRN: Danny was in the points, but still gave the impression that he was sure he could do better than he did in Qatar. What advice are you going to give your riders (Husqvarna Factory rider Danny Kent and Husqvarna-supported rider Niklas Ajo) going into Austin?

AA: “Danny was really fast during winter testing and for sure the speed is there, so I am very confident that he will fight for the top results in Austin. Niklas was also very fast last year in Austin and he likes the track, so I trust that he can also do very well.”
HRN: Thanks for your time and good luck with the team in Austin!
