New #Suzuki #VStrom 1000 ABS Redefines Value For #Money

When Suzuki launched the first generation V-Strom in 2002 the financial statistics for Australia represented a very different set of numbers.

The average wage was $46,000 per year, while the average price for a house in Melbourne or Sydney was $320,000.

Economists were worried the price of oil would crash through the $25 per barrel barrier and the price of fuel was in cents a litre.

And the price of a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 was $15,490.

Move forward to 2014 and Australians earn an average $73,400 per year and the price of housing in Sydney and Melbourne has jumped to $610,000.

The price of oil is now $110 per barrel and fuel regularly hits $1.60 per litre.

And the price of the new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS - now lighter, more powerful, more economical and boasting traction control and anti-lock brake systems- is still $15,490*.

"Value for money has always been a core Suzuki philosophy," said Suzuki Australia Motorcycles Marketing Manager, Lewis Croft.

"When you consider what the new Suzuki V-Strom adds over the 2002 model, it's clear that Australian customers are the big winners from this outstanding price."

Building on the excitement generated by the concept version first seen last year and boasting new levels of engineering performance, the all-new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS builds on a heritage of adventure touring that Suzuki started 25 years ago.

"This latest V-Strom once again demonstrates the essence of Suzuki motorcycle engineering, with a host of exciting new features."

More Powerful, rider-friendly engine:
A totally redesigned, liquid-cooled 1037cc V-twin engine produces effortless acceleration along with a strong V-twin rumble.

Lightweight, well-balanced chassis:
Slim and lightweight aluminium frame, thickly padded seat and an adjustable windscreen provides an easy, comfortable, and fun to ride character.

Brakes and suspension:
Performance-inspired Tokico radial mount front brake calipers with Anti-lock Brake System provides riders confidence in braking on various road conditions.

The V-Strom 1000 also features an inverted front fork and an easy to adjust single shock style rear suspension.

Distinctive design:
Inspired by the 1988 DR750S - Suzuki's first big on/off-road machine - the V-Strom 1000 ABS features bold and distinctive styling to create an unmatched presence.

Advanced Traction Control System:
Suzuki's advanced traction control system is equipped for enhanced sport riding, performance, and the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence.

Innovative luggage system:
An all-new luggage system was designed and tested in harmony with the big V-Strom's overall development. The luggage system provides easy installation, a narrow overall width when installed, and a clean look when detached.

"Australian riders have long held the V-Strom adventure tourers in high regard, with the V-Strom 650 continually being a top seller in the category."

"With a loyal following of more than 4,000 V-Strom owners in Australia we are very confident of the all-new V-Strom 1000 being a big hit," said Croft.

"With its combination of performance, design, handling and flexibility it hits a sweet spot in the category and we look forward to its launch this year."

The all-new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS will go on sale in April, for a recommended retail price of $15,490* in Candy Daring Red and Pearl Glacier White colour schemes and is backed by Suzuki's two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
