TURN EVERYDAY ERRANDS INTO ADVENTURE – The Motorcycle Show – #Calgary


CALGARY, AB (January 2, 2014) – The Motorcycle Show – Calgary is mere days away, taking place January 10-12, at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park,. This premiere industry event features the new line-up of 2014 makes and models from all the major manufacturers of motorcycles, ATV’s and scooters. The doors to the Show swing open at noon on Friday, January 10th and remain open until 5:00 Sunday, January 12th.

This will be motorcycle, ATV and scooter enthusiasts’ first opportunity of the season to check out the extensive showcase of 2014 models from the industry’s leading manufacturers, all at one location. Some of the new bikes that will be featured at the Show include;

- The Aprilia Tuono V4 R is the most powerful naked sport bike on the market and the only one with a 65° V4 engine. This compact and well balanced bike is the most aggressive and safe naked bike. It boasts tons of power, 167 hp at 11,500 rpm. It features a more comfortable seat, a new 18.5 litre fuel tank and a new comfort-oriented suspension setting.

- Arctic Cat will introduce a new 50-inch trail-legal Wildcat to its line-up. The new model features everything Wildcat fans love, in addition to its all new twin cylinder engine, styling and unmatched suspension for ride-in comfort to provide an unrivalled riding experience.

- BMW will have all five of their new models available at the Show including the R1200GS Adventure. It features a new liquid cooled motor and completely restyled bodywork. This bike is smoother running due to the increased flywheel mass in the engine and additional vibration damper for superior rideability.

- The Can-Am Spyder RT-S, this ultimate touring vehicle is better than ever before, with a new triple-cylinder Rotax 1330 ACE engine and 6-speed transmission that delivers higher torque, smoother riding and greater efficiency. When it comes to comfort, the Spyder RT-S goes the extra mile with adjustable rear air suspension, rider footboards and so much more.

- 2014 will be the largest scale new model launch in the 110 year history of Harley-Davidson® Motor Company. Project Rushmore comprises eight new motorcycles that feature improved power and braking performance, enhanced rider ergonomics, and dramatic styling updates that completely redefine the touring motorcyclist’s experience.

- Honda’s new Valkyrie is based on a Gold Wing stripped down to the bare essentials. This new “muscle cruiser” has an 1832cc liquid-cooled six cylinder engine and five-speed transmission. The suspension is tuned for a sportier experience weighing in at 750 lbs. The instrument cluster and handle bar configuration is unique and the foot pegs are more forward mounted for greater cruising comfort.

- The 2014 Indian Chieftain is the first motorcycle of its kind. It’s legendary design style is unlike any Indian motorcycle ever made, the Chieftain features a fairing with integrated driving lights, and its power windshield is an industry first. Standard features include hard saddlebags featuring remote locks and quick release anchors, a high-output audio system with integrated Bluetooth® smartphone connectivity, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

- For those that are superbike enthusiasts the new Ducati Panigale 899 features the revolutionary technology found in the Monoscocca frame and Superquadro engine, 148 HP is delivered with incredible lightness and unprecedented agility both on the road and on the track.

- Kawasaki’s Ninja® 1000 ABS is a premium quality sport bike with the perfect combination of power, handling, looks, technology and rideability. Its advanced new traction control system has three different modes to deliver maximum performance and increased rider confidence, regardless of the riding conditions. The Ninja 1000’s sleek, wraparound bodywork and comfortable ergonomics makes it suitable for both sport touring and commuting.

- The Moto Guzzi California 1400 touring bike is intended for long distance travellers with the need for comfort, aerodynamic protection and cargo capacity. It is powered by the largest V-twin ever built in Europe. Cruise control and an antitheft system come standard on this luxurious model.

- KTM’s 1290 Superbike perfectly embodies the KTM philosophy: endless power, highest precision, and perfect ergonomics, this bike is “ready to race” its high tech, aggressive design and unprecedented functionality, razor sharp sportiness transforms optimum performance with maximum safety into ultimate riding pleasure.

- Suzuki introduces the ultimate touring machine for any road, the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 with its redesign, liquid-cooled V-twin engine features better handling due in part to the fact that it is 13% lighter than previous models. Its fresh new design is reminiscent of the 1988 DR750. With its traction control system monitoring front and rear wheel speeds, as well as throttle, crank and gear position at an alarmingly frequently, it can detect wheel spin and reduce engine output.

- The 2014 Vespa 946 will be on display at this year’s Show. For the first time in Vespa history the structure is made of welded steel embellished with elements in aluminum alloy. The lighter weight is more energy efficient resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions. It features a single cylinder 125cc 4 stroke 3 value air cooled engine with electronic injection which is state of the art technology in scooter engines.

- All new for 2014 is the Yamaha Bolt, powered by the fuel-injected, 4 valve, V-Star 950 engine, the Bolt showcases an all new “less is more” design. This new breed of “crossover” is blend of cruiser features in a chassis that offers a more upright natural riding position. It is simple and compact, with a low seat height, and it offers light, agile handling that instills rider confidence.
