#Yamaha Racing's Class Success In #AORC

Yamaha off road supported riders achieved great success at the 2013 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) after the final rounds of the series were wrapped up over the weekend.

Rounds 11 and 12 of the championship were held in dry conditions at Dungog, NSW and Yamaha supported riders as well as the factory supported teams again filled the podiums across many of the championship classes.

The Women's championship was won by Emelie Karlsson on her YZ250F. Karlsson won the championship by 38 points, claiming five round wins along the way in another impressive performance. Her AORC championship now sits nicely along with her A4DE crown from earlier in the year and will make 2013 a memorable one for her.

Stefan Granquist pulled down second in class on his big bore WR475 in the E3 category. Granquist has been a model of consistency throughout the championship and finished on the podium at all bar two rounds. Had it not been for a DNF in the wet conditions at Wedderburn, the championship battle might have been a lot tighter.

Only three points separated Kirk Hutton from victory in the Veteran's 30-39 years. Hutton entered the final two rounds three points behind his rival, Damien Smith, in a year where the pair swapped wins all season long. Hutton claimed victory at the penultimate round and drew level on points with Smith as they headed into the final round.

But it wasn't to be and Hutton shadowed Smith in the championship points tally.

"The success of our Yamaha support riders, along with the major teams in CDR Yamaha Off Road and Active8 Yamaha, means the 2013 AORC campaign has been a very successful one for Yamaha," explains Motorsport Manager, Ray Howard.

"Every one of them has been in a huge effort and we commend them on their success and the results they have achieved this year.

"Yamaha have a great passion for racing in Australia and our model line up of WR's and YZ's are perfect for Australian conditions and the results in the AORC, A4DE, Finke and Hattah certainly reflect that.

"We look forward to a bigger and better 2014 and congratulate our riders and teams on a job well done in 2013," Howard ends.
