@Parkes on front row at #Donington

Broc Parkes will start tomorrow’s fifth round World Supersport championship race from the front row of the grid after setting the third fastest time in today’s final qualifying session at Donington Park in the UK.



The Ten Kate Racing Products Honda rider made up a lot of ground today after being more than a second off the pace on his CBR600RR yesterday. However, the Australian worked with his team overnight to find the setting modifications required to set a time just three tenths of a second behind CBR-mounted pole position man, Jules Cluzel.



Parkes’s third place made it a one-two-three for Honda on the front row, with British rider Alex Lowes taking second place in spite of overnight illness and a crash this afternoon. Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu was fourth fastest today.

We’re really happy because our aim today was just to be on the front row. Yesterday we were so far away, we were a little bit concerned with how much time we could make up. In the end we made up one-and-a-half seconds from yesterday’s qualifying, which was a big chunk. We changed the bike quite a bit because for some reason it didn’t seem to work yesterday. All year we’ve been playing a bit of catch-up because every track is new for me with this bike. I guess we’ve just been getting the bike to suit me and to try and get up to speed. It seems we have quite a good race bike here and at the end of the session we did quite a few laps at a good pace so it should be good tomorrow.

We came a long way with the setting today and had to make some quite big changes along the way. In the end we got third, which was a really, really good position to end up in. We didn’t really expect it because the gap was so big but in the end we did and we’re ready to race, so well done to everyone.
