Biandronno, 22nd April 2012 - A great second round result for Alex Lupino in the World MX2 Championship held at the superb Sevlievo track in Bulgaria. The Husqvarna Motocross Team By Ricci Racing rider came home in sixth place, in the second moto of the Grand Prix; the best ever result for the Husqvarna TC 250 since it began taking part in the MX2 championships.

After finishing in eighth place in Saturday's qualifying sessions, Lupino put in a fairly lacklustre performance in the first race. Indeed, after starting out in fifteenth place, Lupino managed to fight back to tenth position after only fifteen minutes of racing, setting some good times on the way. Alex complained that he began to flag physically halfway through the race due to arm pump and was forced to slow down, finally having to settle for fourteenth place. However, in the second race Lupino made a decisive start and managed to finish in tenth place. The Husqvarna rider kept pace with the first ten throughout the race, and even managed to find enough physical strength to comeback and finish sixth, Husqvarna's best performance in the MX2 championships to date. Lupino finishes the Bulgarian GP in tenth place overall, as he does in the world championship rider standings after two rounds. A lacklustre performance from Larrieu who never really got into the race, hampered by a couple of bad starts.

Alex Lupino: "I'm really happy with the second race. I ran a good race with the right rhythm. The bike had no problems at all and has improved so much. I'm not really sure what happened to me in the first race. Everything went fine until halfway through. I'd pulled back some positions, but all of a sudden my arms began hurting and I lost a lot of pace. All the same, I'm satisfied. It's been a great start to the championship."

Loic Larrieu: "It was a bad weekend for me. I was never really able to get into the race mainly due to bad starts. In the second race I experience injection problems and thought it better to stop."

Ilario Ricci - Team Manager : "I'm pleased that Alex pulled back in the second race. He wasn't himself in the first. Now he has to understand that he's got the pace of the top six and should hold that position in both of the races. A good result that will have us well psyched up for the next week's Italian GP."
