Suzuki Endurance Racing Team starts its defence of the FIM World Endurance Championship this weekend with a three-man team aboard the factory Yoshimura-powered GSX-R1000.

SERT riders Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle and newcomer, World Supersport rider Fabien Foret, are aiming for their 12th World title in 2012 and their fifth consecutive win at the Magny Cours 76th Anniversary Bol d'Or 24 Hour race in France.

In today's opening practice sessions, SERT recorded the third fastest lap behind SRC Kawasaki and BMW Motorrad France. All three France-based teams were the only riders from the 55 entered teams to stay under the 1:42-minute barrier, but all three crashed, uninjured, following an oil spillage. Both SERT and Kawasaki suffered only minor machine damage but BMW's number one race machine was completely written off.

Yamaha France GMT 94 Michelin Yamalube took provisional fourth position and managed to dodge a series of crashes and track exits that dogged the first session, although fifth-placed Monster Energy Yamaha YART crashed three times.

The top Superstock team today was the Motors Events Suzuki GSX-R1000 of Michael Savary, Guillaume Dietrich and Frederic Moreira with a time of 1:43.175.

More qualifying sessions are planned for this evening and tomorrow with Saturday's race scheduled to start at 14.30 local time. The Bol d'Or, along with all of this season's World Endurance Races, will be broadcast live on Motors TV, Sport+ and various TV Channels in five continents.
