Joakim #Ljunggren junior #Husaberg rider Jonas #Bengtsson wins

In absence of 3-time winner Joakim Ljunggren junior Husaberg rider Jonas Bengtsson took everyone by suprise winning the toughest Enduro race in Sweden.

As Husaberg factory rider Joakim Ljunggren, who won the two last editions of this Swedish classic, was competing in the first round of the SuperEnduro World Championship in Italy at the same time the race for victory at this 86th edition of the Novemberkåsan was wide open.

The race was held in Åsbro close to Örebro and as you would expect this time of year in the south of Sweden the tracks were very wet and muddy. Making it even harder for the riders was the rain which set in shortly after the start of the night laps so in the end only 25 of the 138 participants made it to the finish in time.

After a total special test time of over 8 hours (!) the battle for victory came literally down to seconds as so far 3rd placed rider and leader of the Junior class Jonas Bengtsson put in an excellent time in the very last test which the two riders in front of him couldn't come close to. So Jonas not only won the Junior class by far but also took everyone by surprise beating some much more experienced riders for overall victory aboard his Husaberg 2-stroke bike.

Martin Sundin of Husaberg Team Sweden aboard his FE 450 was one of the two riders who got overtaken by Jonas in the final test and finished 2nd in the Senior class and 3rd overall. Martin Iggmark finished 2nd in the Junior class and 7th overall.

Spanish Husaberg factory rider Oriol Mena, who was the only non-Scandinavian rider competing in the Novemberkåsan, was sitting in 6th position after the day lap aboard his FE 390 but crashed and hit a tree quite hard on the first lap of the night run and had to retire after that crash.
