MV fans can thank Harley Davidson for the influx of cash to develop this amazing looking 3 cylinder middleweight sportbike. It has been a long time coming but at least they got the look right. I dunno about the slope of the seat though...



There should be more new bikes popping up over the next couple of days from the Milan Motor show.

Hot bike.
I guess that the exhaust is three into one into three and not.....true triple exhaust(?). The tube frame is a nice touch for a faired sport bike.

MV is claiming 140HP @ the crank. The Daytona is what about 110 @ the rear wheel?

Are you referring to Harley's use, along with many other companies, of the Federal Reserve's CPFF (Commercial Paper Funding Facility) in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009?

Large companies routinely use commercial paper to generate short term operating capital. In fall 2008, the market for commercial paper suddenly disappeared, and the US government created the CPFF to fill the gap. Harley used it, along with many other major US companies. Like all commercial paper, these were short term notes with interest, and were repaid. It's no more a "bailout" than going to Bank B for a mortgage after Bank A declines you because Bank A is having a bad year.

People on the internet have been yelling about this as a "secret government bailout" of Harley, but it was no more secret than a sunrise. The creation of CPFF was publicized by the Fed when it happened, and details of Harley commercial paper purchased by CPFF are available on the Fed's website. CPFF holdings of Harley paper were done by May 2009, and the CPFF itself was closed in February this year.

Folks on this forum know I'm no particular fan of Harley's current management, but there's absolutely nothing more to Harley's use of CPFF to obtain routine operating capital than "business as usual."

i luv triples. especially since the japanese have beaten the inline 4-cylinder engine to death over the years (thankfully Yamaha took the inline 4 and packaged/engineered it into a different working beast with a beautiful exhaust note. The standard in-line 4s sound sweet at about 15000 RPM+ -- where you rarely hear them on the street, but we need something for those more typical days of riding that still sound great.) With all the technology available seeing anything that doesnt have the same old schtick is good.

The MV Augusta F3 is good company for Triumph's models. A 675 triple with 133hp, 55lb-ft torque --- ready for world supersport competition or your garage .... yahooooo... Scassa and Davies have been way faster on there (older but refreshed) Yamaha R6's vs the Triumph 675s the ParkinGO team raced last year, so hopefully for the sake of racing triples everywhere the real-life horsepower in race trim is improved when they release it and someone takes it into World Supersport competition. A wealthy Italian company like Sterilgarda might be a perfect sponsor.

I have a couple contacts at the new Canadian distributor and just bumped into one of them the other day but forgot to ask about the MVs. I should ask her about it -- it cant hurt to poke my nose into the "who what where when" book of snoopy moto knowledge... just to see if things are proceeding according to Italian perfection over here on our continent.

Finally for the first time in Canada the MVs are available at a local dealer. Calgary Ducati now has a few of them on the floor. I've been in love with the Brutale since 2005 when I first saw one in the flesh at Laguna, but would I give up my KTM and an additional 10Gs to have one? I dunno - but they sure are nice to look at......
