Ducati Hypermoto is a GO!!!

#1 Unread post by BuzZz »

A few months ago I completed a survey that Ducati had on their site regarding the Hypermoto and if they should produce it.

I got a mass e-mail today and YES, they are are going to produce and sell this bike. They claim it will be on showroom floors by spring 2007. No word on price yet, but I know it's not going to be considered cheap. I guesstimate about $20 grand Canuck Bucks..... hopefully closer to 17-18, considering they are using the same DS-1000cc 2 valve motor they already have in their line-up, but if the market will bear it, they will go for as much as they can. If they keep to the 50mm Marzocchi R.A.C. forks and Ohlins shock the prototype had, I can see $20 grand on the sticker.

And now I gots to start saving my pennies, cause, I WANT THIS BIKE!!!! [/i]

Why do you like the Duc over the KTM?

I'm still going back and forth betwen the r1200gs/990 adventure/Ducati ... (Originally multistrada, but i think i like the hypermotard better ... )

(Just curious)

The KTM is a dam nice bike, too, no mistake.

But the Duc is lighter, and most importantly, thinner. Thinner everyplace, like a dirtbike (ok, like a dualsport) and I love that. I think KTM may bring a bit more motor to the party, but the power/weight ratio will have to settle out before we know for sure. I think the Duc might come out a bit quicker, more lively and agile...... we shall see.....

And it is a Ducati.....

I still ain't real sure how I feel about the front fairing/fender thing..... but overall, it seems to be getting less objectionable at least. But it is still prime material for 'personalization'.....

The shroud-like things on the tank.... I dig those. Mmmmm, dirtbikey........

It is different than Duc Norm, but it still looks like a Duc.

The Duck looks right: like a street fighter design. The KTM looks a little wrong: too much like a dirt bike from some angles, but I'm sure that can be remedied with a little work.

Recently I saw a revamped hot-rodded Yamaha MT-01 and it looked much closer to the original concept than the production version currently available... something like this:

For Sale: Ninja 600 with parts bike, needs minor work, $30, no title... (GEE THAT DOESNT RING ANY WARNING BELLS DOES IT?)

Cool, that thing looks like an engine with two wheels and a seat slapped on.
