Hey folks,

Young adult living and working in Los Angeles who is tired or 20mpg and no joy in my transportation. I have ridden a dirt bike a few times and it was just amazing. I have decided that I want a motorcycle. I have just started my career at an Emergency Room and need to get some savings for gear, the MSF class and of course the bike itself. So until then I plan on reading everything i can about choosing the right bike, how to maintain a bike and of course, how to be a good rider. Seems like this is a fairly friendly and enjoyable forum and I look forward to joining this as well as the riding community.

LA is a great place to own a motorcycle, that Pacific Coast Highway you have there is amazing and Mullhalland Dr. (I am sure I spelled that wrong) is a twisty and curvy get-a-way from the everyday.

Sounds like you are going to be starting off great. With an MSF class under your belt, good safety gear and reading/learning all you can too, you'll be set.

As you work in the Emergeny Room you'll see some riding accidents, but don't let that scare you off. I have found these many years that those who are starting off like you (safety conscious) are much less likely to have an accident (control of the right wrist also helps).
