Been lurking for about a month and decided to sign up for the forum today.

I am a 37 year old female rider here in Oregon. I have had my endorsement for 6 years and I am finally gearing up for my own bike.

Hubby has a 2007 Triumph Bonneville America and I currently ride pillion and have for the 15 years we've been together. Hubby is currently on the Bonneville America forums and PNW Riders as "Bravura". I call him Troubadour on a Triumph, as that is the name of his blog. That is how I got the name Trobairitz (female troubadour)

I started out on his 1976 KZ 900 in parking lots only until comfortable then took my Team Oregon motorcycle safety course and received my endorsement. We use ATGATT and enjoy tooling around on his bike.

We are finally at a place where getting a bike for me is actually on the top of the priority list (hey can I help it if I wanted a kitchen and bathroom remodel first)

Now we are at the shopping phase and I look forward reading everyones tips and advice and even posting some of my own.

I am happy to have found this forum and find it a wealth of information. Kudos to everyone out there. 8)

Welcome, i am fairly new too. I also have a 2007 Triumph America. It is a great bike. My husband has a bike too and we really enjoy riding, when the snow goes. Enjoy the new ride. :canada:

I've been looking at a Ninja 650 and a VerSys.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.

Triumphgirl - I too love the Triumphs, would love a T-100 but it wouldn't suit the dual purpose we're looking for in a second/third bike (we still have the 1976 KZ 900 LTD but it is moldering out back under the sequoia - ran when I parked it - famous last words). The Sprint ST we had had great sound to it being a triple. We've had the America for just under a year and have over 7,000 miles on it. It is great for tooling around the countryside.

Johnj - we have thought of both the SV650 and Versys. One of the riders that comes to our Corvallis bike night has an SV650. She started on a Rebel 250 and loves the SV. I have always liked them but love the heated grips and ABS of the BMW G 650 GS more, plus it just seems a better fit weight and balance wise. Also with the Versys hubby's inseam is 30" whereas mine is 32" even though we're the same height. He has to tippy toe the Versys. But they are a great looking bike too.

Any suggestions for first bikes for me are always welcomed and appreciated. I have also posted in the LAdies Lounge Forum under the "First Bikes" thread.

Cheers...

First off :welcome5:

Good to see you doing the right thing and doing your research on a first bike, you'll find all kinds of helpful people here. Check out the new riders forum and there's countless threads on first bikes (also check out the Triumph forum while you're poking around as well :D )

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I have been poking around the forums, and yes I checked out the Triumph threads. :-)

Still doing research on that first bike but we've hit a nice patch of rainy/windy weather so it doesn't seem as urgent.

We are still debating about new and keeping our eyes open for used. Something will come along. Our problem is we have a habit of reserching until we take the fun out of it, then need to take a little break before getting back to it. One of the joys of having OCD I guess. :whome:
