Re: How long would you consider a typical ride?

No such thing as a typical ride for me, I guess. Just ride when I can for as long as I can. If it's errands, it's errands, if it's 2 hours to go investigate a new place, that's great, if it's an all-day or overnight visit, even better.

Re: Cell Phone Blue Tooth

Well, for my phone, it will announce who is calling, so if I have it hooked up to a BT headset, it should do the same. (I hope.) We are looking at rider-to-rider headsets, and the new Scala G4 looked pretty promising, until one reader noted that the battery is rechargeable but not replaceable and o...

Re: Newbie from Rochester NY

I hail from WNY originally. I used to work at Strong Memorial, and both my dad and my uncle worked at Kodak. (So did I, one summer.) :welcome: to TMW! You have to be a little bit careful on this site, though. I asked one or two innocent questions, and before long I was riding to Colorado . . . :laug...

Re: Which bike do you want reviewed

I'd like your opinion of the new Vmax, the Triumph Tiger, the Versys (of course), and the ER-6n. I'm kinda curious about the differences between the last two. They probably won't be there for the track, since they aren't designed for flat-out speed, but it'd be nice to know how they compare.

Re: Cell Phone Blue Tooth

Don't you have to remove any tank bag to refuel? This one is dead easy: pull the cord attached to the lockpin, and it slides off. To re-attach, line up the horseshoe on the bag with the one on the gas cap (that you purchase separately, it is different for different bikes) and snap it back into place...

Re: Riding in high wind

First time I was caught in a high, steady wind, I thought I was going to end up off the bridge and into the water. Posted here as a newb, like you have, with a "WTF do I do?" +1 to what has already been said. Gusts are worst of all, 'cuz one can't be sure when they will hit, or when they w...

Re: oh the slow motion horror...

Usually drives a truck? Great --something bigger, heavier, and with less driver visibility. The other frustration to me is the "Gee, I didn't do it on purpose." Well, goody. If that had been a toddler, would he/she be so blase? It should worry the pants off him that he missed something so ...

Re: Mufflers

I just looked up the FZ8, and even though looks aren't paramount to me, I gotta admit those mufflers look like (and probably interfere with) luggage.
