Nice write up! And while you don't have warm fuzzies about your effort, keep in mind that *no one* passes that course having mastered anything. The guy who gets a perfect score? He's really only qualified to do exactly what you are--practice in the parking lot a whole lot before hitting the street. ...

Re: Brand new rider, looking at first bikes >> 250 or 500?

You won't "outgrow" a 250; you could ride one for years and it would have all the power you need...once you learn to wind those little bikes up, they can fly. You might want more power (I know I did...I rode a 250 cruiser for a year and a half and moved up out of want, not need.) If you get a 500, i...

Ok, it's not any wider than most bikes are at the handlebars. You can park anywhere a bike can, and you can filter. So where's the fail...?

Re: The Scooter Revolution has Started

I think anytime gas prices jump, scooter sales do as well. A couple of years ago when everyone was agonizing over $3/gal gas the Vespas at my local dealer were practically flying out the door. Yet, I saw few actually on the road... Not sure why, but I'm guessing a lot of people buy scooters thinking...

So, what's the point of the extra wheel? It gives you an extra contact patch...a bit more stable than the average scooter, especially scooters with short wheelbases. That third wheel makes the whole ride very forgiving of stupid mistakes...if you're leaned over in a curve and try to brake, you can ...

Re: Burgman Owners HATE the Tmax

Is there a law that a good looking man with a perfect body MUST ride a top of the line sportbike? Well, no. It's also acceptable for him to ride a nicely dressed Road King. That way he's going slow enough that as we pass him by on our little Triumphs and Hondas and Suzukis we can admire his beauty....

Nice machine for the physically impaired. Actually...not really. In spite of the ability to lock the front wheels at lights and stop signs, being able to lock them is an acquired skill and initially you have to be able to put your feet down. Even after you get the hang of it, at off-cambered stops ...

The MP3 would've gotten an awesome vote, if it wasn't so expensive, heavy, and ugly. But for all that ballsy innovation, it's got to be at least cool. It actually doesn't feel heavy when you're on it. I worried about the weight, but you can flick that thing around almost like a light sport bike. It...

Re: 2011 Piaggio MP3 500 - COOL WALL VOTE: VOTE NOW!

Having ridden an MP3 for nearly 3 years, I know they're awesome. Every bit as much fun as a motorcycle, leans like a motorcycle, can go faster than you need to go, and that ugliness is part of its charm. I figure its cool factor jacked up a couple points when I came out of a local Wendy's and found ...

ALso is it worth investing in some riding pants? I did g...

Where are you located? Chances are someone here knows of a nearby MSF or Rider's Edge class. Or even a rider coach in the area. Learning from family and friends is usually not the best way to go about it (as evidenced from your now ripped open leg and burnt hand...) and can really extend your learni...

The Wee was a strong consideration when I was bike shopping last month...if it had been a couple inches shorter, I probably would have gone for it. But I test sat, knew I'd have issues with the height, decided to mull it over, and found the Bonneville... It's not a beautiful bike, but it's practical...

There is a great local deal on an '01 Suzuki Savage LS650. I sat on a Suzuki Boulevard S40 (pretty much the same bike, right?) and it felt pretty comfortable. The seat is certainly bit low, but I am reading that the bike should be pretty comfortable to ride on the highway, but also be something tha...
