I'm very happy with my 1000, so I disagree with the comment that you should stay away from it. I carefully looked at both bikes and the 1000 fit my needs best. No regrets.

Thanks for the good information. One more question: is there much difference between the '05, '06, and '07 models?

My local dealer has an '05 DL1000 with hard bags and trunk with only 2500 miles for $7500. Pretty tempting. Any thoughts?

I am thinking about changing from my M50 to the V-Strom DL1000. I love my M50, but I want something that is better suited for LD riding and may be easier on my back. I'd like to hear from V owners about their experiences with the bike.

I am more interested in the DL1000. My dealer offered me an 07 for $4489.15 + trade-in, or $10973 cash OTD. Don't know yet if that's a good deal or not.

+1 to Koss. I bought a pair of Tour Master Caliber pants from newenough.com and I really like 'em. Fortunately, I haven't had to test the armour yet.

While I have never ordered anything from Leatherup myself, a friend of mine has purchased several jackets from them for both he and his wife. He likes them alot (price, service, etc.). He said they are good to work with if you need to return anything for a different size, etc.
