I'm very happy with my 1000, so I disagree with the comment that you should stay away from it. I carefully looked at both bikes and the 1000 fit my needs best. No regrets.

Go to www.stromtrooper.com. It's the best V-Strom related site, IMHO. You can also get some good info at www.vstrom.info

Thanks for the good information. One more question: is there much difference between the '05, '06, and '07 models?

My local dealer has an '05 DL1000 with hard bags and trunk with only 2500 miles for $7500. Pretty tempting. Any thoughts?

ATTN V-Strom Owners

I am thinking about changing from my M50 to the V-Strom DL1000. I love my M50, but I want something that is better suited for LD riding and may be easier on my back. I'd like to hear from V owners about their experiences with the bike.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I'll check those sites and see what they have to offer.

I am more interested in the DL1000. My dealer offered me an 07 for $4489.15 + trade-in, or $10973 cash OTD. Don't know yet if that's a good deal or not.

After 6 Months, Do I Want A Different Bike?

Background I've now been riding for 6 months since returning after a 20-year hiatus. I've put down over 2500 miles, which isn't necessarily a lot. But for much of the winter my riding has been hit and miss due to weather. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming summer when I can put in some seri...

My current ride is a Boulevard M50 Limited. I would love to add a V-Strom 1000 to the mix.

But then again, how about that B-King?

+1 to Koss. I bought a pair of Tour Master Caliber pants from newenough.com and I really like 'em. Fortunately, I haven't had to test the armour yet.

While I have never ordered anything from Leatherup myself, a friend of mine has purchased several jackets from them for both he and his wife. He likes them alot (price, service, etc.). He said they are good to work with if you need to return anything for a different size, etc.

For what it's worth.

I recently installed a Fog City insert on my faceshield. The next morning as I rode to work, I was a little disappointed that I was still fogging up. Then I realized that it was my d*mn glasses!

Wish Fog City made 'em for my spects.

Count me in. I love my bike. I don't care what anyone thinks about it.

This could be a fun, productive and informative group, unless we let the comments of one lost soul stir up the sh*t with his disparaging remarks. We should just ignore him.

He who pays the most in advertising dollars wins. Sorry to say, that is how it works most of the time with web sites and magazines. Yes, I agree. You have to stroke the hand that feeds you. I am not naive about that. Nor do I categorically disregard all such reviews because of their advertisers. Th...

MotoF150, I am sorry you've had such a bad experience with the M50. For the most part, my experience has been just the opposite. The saddle gets uncomfortable after a while and I wish it had a 6th gear. But other than that, it's been smooth, easy to manuever, peppy, and fun to ride. I do agree that ...

I cannot do the report justice in this quick reply. I can get you a copy of their report i...

When I took my BRC, our instructor told us that if we are involved in an accident with another vehicle, even though we are not required to have insurance here in WA, we may be required to post bond (even if we are not at fault). She got this information from a police officer she rides with. Don't kn...

You *have* to let me know how that works out for you (pictures if you can) since we ride basically the same bike. Here are a couple of pics, as requested. The saddlebags are K-drive Click-n-Lock. I really like them. The tailbag is a Nelson-Rigg Expandable bag. I use it for my work clothes, etc. I j...
