Re: Wretched XS

Hello. Not dead yet. Still around. Still 1,400 miles from the Yamaha -- it's sitting in the in-laws' barn, with the rest of our stuff that didn't fit in the moving van. So, it'd cost more than a grand to rent a truck and bring that stuff (and the bike) down. I had the thought of just have my MIL se...

Re: Wretched XS

Sigh... I'm 1,400 miles away from my Yamaha. I've never been this far away from it since I bought it in 1993. :kickcan: And...the way expenses keep sucking our money -- kids back to school, utility startups, car repairs (x2), the house in Michigan, the house here in Florida, and so on and SO ON -- ...

Re: The World on Two Wheels (a DMV Messiah Blog)

Hi. Yes, nice girl and bike. As for the choke and cool mornings, my old XS650 needs to sit there on the choke for a few minutes before I can even think about riding off. Some bikes are just cold-blooded. I don't think that ringing ears are normal. Does your helmet have anything like the visor hinge ...

Re: Wretched XS

@ceemes, good advice there. We're really thinking of this service: http://www.upack.com/bike/ It's offered by ABF, which is a fairly large company. --- Went out last night, saw a couple of guys out riding together. Unlikely pair -- a stretched, lowered Hayabusa drag-bike and a wide-tired Victory cru...

Re: Wretched XS

Mmph So, on the good side, I'm back with my family and we're setting up shop in Florida. On the bad side...turns out we have MUCH more stuff than we thought we did, and even with the largest Penske truck we could rent, we had to leave some stuff in Michigan, which my in-laws are going to move into ...

Re: Wretched XS

Ketchup I dunno why, narcissism maybe, but I just went back and read my own blog from the beginning. All 28 pages of it. Kind of had a long, wistful, mildly amusing, nostalgic trip down memory lane. I also noticed that in the recent couple of years, my posts have been more terse than interesting. I...

Re: Wretched XS

Thanks, @roscowgo! And... thank you @ceemes  As for the Snow Birds...where do you think they spend their summers? Michigan, where I came from. No shortage of white Cadillacs with Florida plates in Michigan in the summer. @jstark -- cool! Was it an XS650 "Special" or "Heritage?&q...

Re: Wretched XS

Closer....Closer.... So, it's now just less than a month before I fly back to Michigan, load our house into a moving van, and drive the family 1,400 miles to our new home in Florida. I'll reiterate that I can't wait to get the old XS down here. But...while I'm looking forward to riding it, I really...

Re: Wretched XS

Boring New Life... Hey, thanks guys! So. I've lived in Tampa for a week now. It's already in the high 80's (F, not C) in the afternoon, and sunny almost every day. I'm gonna love my bike when I get it down here. My commute takes me right through the downtown, but I don't have any qualms about ridin...
