Are they touting this as new? Because they've had the S40 for a very long time...

Trucks that don't have tarps on their load. I live a couple of miles from a Campbell soup factory and right now it's tomato season...it's too dangerous to take the bike down the road near there for fear of catching a tomato in the face. I suspect that at 55-60mph, that would hurt.

Re: Topboxes . . . yay or nay?
I want one, but I'm not sure I would be able to get on or off the bike with one. I have a hard enough time swinging my leg over, and a top box might just be another thing to smash a foot or knee into.

Re: Discuss: What was your first experience on a motorcycle
When I was 8-9 years old, my sister's boyfriend had a purple Norton Commando; I loved that thing and it made me want to ride more than anything. It wasn't until I was 20 that I got a little Honda Express, and I rode that thing everywhere, even in winter (in Utah, with snow; in hindsight that was a v...

Very focused; I don't listen to music, don't hum to myself. If I find my mind wandering too often, it means I need a break.

I'm a bright colors kinda person...I may look for those for the hell of it. Thanks!Grey Thumper wrote:If you're still looking, Motoport makes Hi Viz mesh pants, although I dunno how much you should prioritize hi viz pants. Your helmet and jacket are much more in a driver's line of sight anyway.

Re: Do you warm up the motorcycle or just turn the key and g
I start it up, roll to the end of the driveway and stop long enough to put my face shield down, and then go. If it's cold (which it really isn't here often) I go slow initially to warm it up, but mostly I just go.

Yep.

(the pants are cool weather only...but yeah, I rock the hi-viz gear. Helmet & jacket always; if I could find hi-viz mesh pants I'd wear that when it's warm instead of the kevlar jeans I usually wear.)

I like quirky and different, but this just doesn't quite do anything for me. It's not a motorcycle--it has a freaking steering wheel--and if I'm going to be in a car, I'll stick to my VW Bug convertible...

Scorpion XL900 modular...really liking it, too; it replaces an Arai Profile that was very comfy and I was sure I'd never find anything that fit as well, but the Scorpion might even be a little better.

Most things, neither of us want to do...we don't have the tools or the desire to tinker these days. But things like a dead battery? I *could* do it myself, but the Spouse Thingy usually jumps on it. He knows I know a little more about bikes than he does, and he'll let me tell him what needs to be do...

Re: Need Advice on second bike....or keep current one
If the bike is that much fun, slap some risers on the bars so that you don't have to lean forward or scoot...and that's a heck of a lot cheaper than a new bike. And seriously, if you don't like leaning forward on that bike, you're not going to like a sport bike. Risers are probably the answer.

Re: Burgman 650 Scooter
If I was going to buy another scooter, I think that would be the one. I had a Piaggio MP3 and loved it (and I miss it, which I really didn't expect) but I'd like the next ride (if I ever change bikes) to have ABS. And the Burgman can be triked if needed as I get old(er) ;) Bike, scooter, two wheels,...

Re: Do you ride in the rain? At night?
I'm night blind, so I neither ride nor drive at night; I ride for fun, and rain is no fun, so unless I get caught by surprise rain, I don't ride in it, either. Same thing with really high winds...I *can* but I don't enjoy it, and if I'm not going to enjoy it, I might as well take the car.

Re: Help with bike decision
I will say that 1 thing im nervous about is that i know the wife will want to ride with me, and im seeing a 400lb weight limit on most bikes. is 500+lbs just out of the question on most bikes? Also, is it true that pretty much everyone lays down a bike early on? Give yourself a whole lot of miles b...
