Edmonton-area metric mechanics

Hey there people, My bike needs some work that is unfortunately beyond my (extremely limited) mechanical abilities so I find myself needing to take it in somewhere. Last time I looked into this, the few shops I checked out either said on the listing or mentioned when I phoned, that they only worked ...

Eureka! Grabbed a multimeter and found out that the right handlebar cables (ie. kill switch) seemed fine when the bars were turned, but after some more checking, found that some of the ignition switch wires were the ones becoming disconnected. I took off the sleeve but there didn't seem to be any pr...

There was indeed a connector in the form of a green box between the starter to the rest of the harness, but alas it wasn't the culprit this time. I played around briefly with the other connections near the bars but didn't come up with anything. I'll check those some more and pick up a multimeter (I ...

I'm pretty sure it is cutting out since it doesn't jerk like it does when it stalls. Actually, since you mentioned it, the symptoms are exactly like when the kill switch is set to off. I did a bit of poking around today and the starter also has no effect when the bars are turned to the right a certa...

Engine cutting out

Hey guys, I've been noticing the engine cutting out on my old Ninja the past while and I'm trying to figure out what might be causing it. It seems to happen as a result of some combination of the following: It's fairly cold out I'm moving slowly (like coming to a stop) The bars are turned quite a wa...

I'm not sure how that didn't dawn on me, but yeah I can definitely do that. So now does anyone have suggestions for a shop in the Edmonton area where I can get a tire and have it put on? The bike's a bit older so the size is a little less common nowadays.

Tire shops around Edmonton?

So my neighbours are malicious jackasses (long story) and let the air out of my rear tire. I have to hook up a compressor to see if it's just deflated or if it's punctured somewhere, but obviously in the latter case I'll need a new tire. I don't have a truck or anything, so does anyone know of decen...

Yeah, I know people who have had their lives ruined because of drivers' impatience/ego, so I am very against any sort of speeding or other jackassery on public roads. I was thinking more along the lines of seeing where the nearest twisty mountain-type roads are. Of course shmoozing up to people with...

Well damn, no wonder everyone in Alberta has a truck! :)

I'll have to think of some clever way to get my speed fix then. Thanks for the pointers though!

I don't have a truck or whatever to haul the bike so I'll probably ride out with a few tools to take off the mirrors, tape things up, etc. once I get there. The side stand thing shouldn't be a problem since I have a center stand, it just sounded odd. I'm probably going to rent the full leathers for ...
