New bike ideas
I'm planning on buying a new bike next year when I pay off my truck. I'd like to start planning now, but I really don't know exactly what I want. Here's my must haves: Everyday comfort, close to standard riding position. Hard luggage is a plus. Top priority is power. I really like the F6b, but I wan...

Re: (Kinda) New Bike Day
Thanks. I didn't really have a pattern to work on so I just tried to look at modern street fighters and try to get close to that. Didn't realize how much rake this bike has until I took the fairing off, but it came out pretty close to what I wanted it. And it is a BLAST to ride. Getting used to the ...

(Kinda) New Bike Day
I've had my C10 Connie for about 4 years, and about a year ago I started itching for something different. The Connie is a great bike, but it's lack of airflow and furnace blast engine make it a poor choice for the Deep South climate. In the process of shopping for a new bike, my wife and I discovere...

Re: Tire pressures
I'm also concerned that's too much pressure. The other problem you might run in to is reduced grip. The harder a tire is the less grip you have because the contact patch is smaller.

Re: Parking question
If the parking is asphalt, you'll need something to put under your kickstand. A flattened soda can will work. A kickstand will cut right through hot asphalt and the bike could tip.

Not sure what your budget is, but if money were no object, another outside the box possibility would be to go to a custom shop and have them build something bespoke. Again, that will be ultra pricey as any custom motorcyle would be, but it might be worth a shot.

Re: What kind of motorcycle would fit a very big guy?
I second the Honda Goldwing F6B. It will probably be a hard bike to learn on, but it's got a lot of space front to back and a big torque motor. If I recall correctly the seat was very wide and long so you'd have room to move around.

Re: Most Important Gear??
This doesn't exactly fall under the usual protective gear concerns, but don't forget hearing protection. Even with a full face helmet, noise at highway speeds can easily reach above 100dB and damage your ears. The quirky thing about hearing damage is your ears don't heal (specifically, the hair cel...
