With the 5 year rule of thumb many aspects come into play. Yes, manufacturer liability is part of it, yes the companies would like you to buy a new helmet. But there is more to it than that. It is quite reasonable to have some "doubt" about the reliability of a 5 year old helmet and personally I don...

jaskc78 - Lots of good bikes out there and I think most of the comments already posted are pretty spot on. The one thing I would suggest coming from the sport bike background to the cruisers is look for a little more HP than the V Star 1100. I just came off a Yamaha FZ6 and got the Road Star 1700. I...

Others have said it but let me re-state with a little more emphasis. Don't move around much! Be as still as possible and mimic his every move trying to keep the two of you "acting as one" while on the bike. Even when its stopped. If you need to re-adjust or some larger movement, let him know. When g...

Nothing wrong at all. You just went to traffic confession, stated what you did wrong and got it off your chest. Good work! Funny too!!

Are any of the integrated shields polarized??? I like the idea of having the tinted shield in the helmet, but I won't give up my Polarized sunglasses if the shield isn't polarized.

Good thought. Do you soak the rag in any particular type of soap??? Or do you just use plain water?

And here I thought it was just a mid life crisis thing. I guess its analagous to pregnant womens cravings. They say women crave what their bodies are lacking. And I know my body / brain is lacking stimulation and activity. So thank God for Motorcycles!

Thanks for posting the pics jaskc78 It'd be nice to hear what you think of the ride, especially since you come from a sportbike background. There are certain cruisers that I like out there, haven't owned one or even ridden one, but I'm curious about how they feel. Give me a couple of more rides and...

Cleaning the windshield

I just picked up a real clean used bike. It is spotless at the moment and it doesn't look like its ever been ridden except on Sundays between 10 and 2. I know once I start riding it, its going to get bugs and grime on the windshield and I'm going to have to clean them off. Right now, the windshield ...

I have often wanted to try the Ipod under the helmet but have been too afraid that it would be a distraction. Most of my rides are short but I will have to try that on my next longer ride.

I usually find that when that happens its because of something other than the bike itself. For guys it usually tends to be work, we seem to take work to seriously at times. My best advice... get on the bike and ride. You will probably feel better about a lot of things afterward.
