minor disaster averted - just red in the face...
...so my husband and I ride up to our local Kawi dealer last Saturday to find out they had a customer appreciation event going on (I apparently didn't get the memo). I pull in behind him and proceed to get so distracted by all the goings-on that I yanked a bit hard on the front brake while coming to...

Thanks for the welcome everybody! I have a whopping 50 miles under mybelt now! :) Practice makes perfect so they say. I even made it to the local McDonalds the other day with my son. What a blast! (had to leave my neighborhood and the High school parking lot and actually get out on a real road! ha ...

Re: Women Riders: I ride for freedom and joy
I would have ridden horses a hundred or so years ago. Today that is impractical so I ride an Iron Horse that gives me the same sensory feedback that a quivering or galloping horse did then. I smell the flowers. I see the people and are still one with them even though I travel quickly through their ...

She had the same complaint that it was heavy eps. when taking off from a standstill. When I tried it and think I found out why. It's power band seems raised a bit up the RPM scale. So it doesn't come off a stand still as agile as most V-Twins. But the power makes it a more bearable bike from 10 -70...

[quote="Ryethil"][quote="mazer"] So what do I tell a woman who is convinced that nothing smaller than a VStar 950 is too small. Mostly they're not true newbies and this their first medium to large bike. At what point should I caution someone that they maybe going a bit too fast or you really can't d...

I don't know... I just don't see anything funny about this video. Maybe we'd all see it that way if they kept the video going a few more second and you saw the skin being scraped from her body and the blood dancing on the pavement as a beautiful woman was transformed in to a scarred for life, fille...

I am usually plugged into my MP3 player when I'm riding on the highway. :music: I do tend to turn it down or completely off when in heavy traffic or the city just as a precaution. I use small soft ear buds that I love and clip the player to my jacket where I have quick and easy access to the volume ...

Probably my biggest fear is the twitter girls making that infamous left turn in front of me. I'm with you on that one, Gunslinger - but it's not just Twitter "girls" - it's everyone you see by these days has one hand on the wheel and one hand on the cell phone in front of them - thumb typing like m...

'09 1700's
Hi Kawi riders! Anyone else out there riding the new Nomad/Voyager 1700? How are you liking it? 1600 kms (Canadian, eh) on mine and loving the power and torque alot, but hating that stock seat. Mustang says they won't have anything out for it until August sometime, so I guess I'll be having a local ...

Re: honda valkyrie 1500
I was checking if any knew how good the Honda Valkyrie fit tall people over 6'4' I dont like the feel when my knees are up in my chest. I like the style of the bike but the foot pegs look like they are back where the ride would be uncomfortable for a tall person. Any comments please Oceanbreeze - m...

Just my two cents on this thread............just a mish-mash of 'stuff': Preparing for touring gets easier the more you do it I have found. You learn to weed out what it is you don't really need - and generaly replace them with something that - oops - you maybe forgot the previous trip. Making a bik...

Had the exact same experience coming into Browning MT last summer - only it was MULTIPLE horses - both sides of the ditch! Browning is on a reserve where they allow t...
