I'm 5'2" with a fairly short inseam. I started on a Rebel a few years ago and moved up to the Shadow 600 last year. I can easily flatfoot both bikes. IMHO, I'm glad I started smaller than the Shadow. It wasn't just the seat height for me, it was the weight of the bike and the riding position as well...

I was just thinking about you and wondering if you were doing the LOE1000 this year (we can't, hubby has to work - bummer)
If you make it, wave as you go by, and eat lots of green chile while you're here, it'll kill you or cure you!

It is a big accomplishment making that first solo ride.
I ride with my hubby 99% of the time, so when I do solo rides I give myself an "attagirl".

Thought I saw that
I work just a mile or so from the balloon fiesta park and drive right by it on my way to work so I see all the balloons without having to go on the field. It is amazing to see.
We had some pretty ugly weather that weekend, did you hit any of it?

Don't despair - I too am short just over 5' with short legs and the Rebel fits me perfectly. It's been a joy learning to ride on it. You'll find the perfect bike for you too when the time comes. Enjoy your "lurking"!

There are some really cute names out there ladies, wish I were more creative. My little Rebel is "Little Red" and hubby's CBR is "Big Red".

I've been trying on bikes for a future upgrade and for me, the difference was width. I'm vertically challenged 5'2" - short legs - and the 600 sidecovers dug into my legs. I didn't feel comfortable trying to flat foot it when I sat on it. The 750 was narrower and easier to pull up and hold up for me...
